I Want To See A World by Dan Nelson

I want to see a world where the crooked paths are made straight,

Where crime is not something that we accept or exonerate,

Where people are not raging with their hearts full of hate,

Where debauchery is not something that we celebrate.

I want to see a world where lies are no longer lauded,

Where foolishness is not what we deem worthy to be applauded,

Where the fraudulent and the violent are held to account,

Where equal justice under the law in our society is paramount.

I want to see a world that treacherous leaders cannot abuse,

Where neither unscrupulous politicians nor street thugs can misuse,

Where TV pundits can be relied upon to tell the people truth,

Where there is a hopeful future for every single youth.

I want to see a world where dirty cops are locked in jail,

Where shady judges, and corrupt corporate leaders are held without bail,

Where back room deals are quickly exposed,

Where unscrupulous lawmakers are efficiently deposed.

I want to see a world where we don’t throw out the good with the bad few,

Where we don’t blame people for what they themselves did not do,

Where injustice is not answered with more injustice too,

Where we don’t falsely condemn the system or people regardless of what is true.

I want to see a world where what is broken is fitly mended,

Where hurting hearts and wandering sheep are properly tended,

Where power, wealth, & resources are used to help and not do harm,

To lift up, encourage, breathe life, bring strength, enable, and disarm.

I want to see a world where people rise up to bless one another,

One family made by God, where we treat the other as sister or brother,

Where the differences in one’s skin or hair is a beautiful reminder of what we share,

Beauty in diversity expressed in a thankful prayer,

a majestic tapestry of God’s children everywhere.

I want to see a world where God’s perfect love casts out all fear,

where every person lives each day with an awareness that the Holy Spirit is always near,

Where old things are passed away, sins of the past are long forgotten,

Where hope for humanity is renewed by God’s only Son begotten.

I want to see a world were kindness rules the day and love lights up the night.

Where the downtrodden are elevated, where the joy of the Lord shines bright.

Where there is a voice for the voiceless, and cures for disease.

Where we defend the defenseless, and everyone makes peace.

I want to see a world where righteousness really reigns,

Where mercy is given freely, breaking guilty chains,

Where God’s grace is a gift, that all have received,

Where salvation is lived by all who have believed.

I want to see the world where Jesus Christ is King of Kings,

Hallelujah Maranatha, He Comes with healing in His wings,

I can now identify a world, eyes of faith can see it clear,

This world is coming very soon, the day is very near.
